What is edgy Christian fiction?

Edgy Christian fiction books are a new way to describe novels that push traditional boundaries in the Christian publishing world. These fiction books tackle real-life issues that can be avoided in some of the more clean novels out there.

These novels may be darker and cover topics like crime, violence, abuse, addiction, and mental illness.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with writing about these topics instead I think it can draw a whole new group of people to Christian fiction that is looking for more relatable books. By writing books with these “darker” topics, you get to show readers that God CAN and IS everywhere. Even in the darkest of moments.

God can offer redemption for every single person no matter what they have done and I think it’s a great thing to reflect on in your reading.

Some examples of the best Christian mystery books that push the boundaries of traditional fiction include:

The Girl from the Train by Irma Joubert
Kiss by Ted Dekker
The Pawn by Steven James

Exploring edgy Christian fiction is a great way to bring bible values and morals into the modern world, engaging readers in a new way.

There are so many great Christian fiction writers that have made a huge impact on this genre. As mentioned above some of the top Christian mystery authors include Ted Dekker and Karen Kingsbury.

However, if you are looking at Christian fiction writers as a whole some of the best include:

– C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien are known for their epic fantasy works.
