Book Review: A Dream of Magic by J. Megan Smith
Aisley Montclair embarks on a journey to save her father from a mysterious illness, venturing east into unfamiliar lands. I grabbed A Dream of Magic because Megan reached out for a review, and I couldn’t resist! I hadn’t read anything by this author before, so discovering this hidden gem was a real treat. I dove into the ebook version, which is just perfect for my life right now, juggling a toddler and a newborn.
Review of the book
If I had to sum up this book in three words, it’d be cozy fantasy romance! The plot moves at just the right pace, and while there’s some action, it’s light and super easy to read! Megan’s got a real knack for worldbuilding; I’m ready to visit this intriguing place right now! I would love to see a map of this world.
I fell head over heels for how well-crafted it is! And let’s not forget the characters—they’re fantastic! When I met Cadrian and his Blackstar Guardians team, I wanted to know everything about each one of them.
The characters are interesting and well-developed, growing beautifully over time. Even with the soul mate trope, they didn’t fall for each other instantly—they took their sweet time, and it was so charming!
Cadrian is super dreamy, and I adored reading all their interactions. There’s a hint of intimacy at the end for the married couple, but it’s a closed-door situation, still brimming with romance that had me squealing with joy.
“How did you know?” she whispered, searching his face with a tremulous expression. “I told you-we’re inevitable.”
